Day 1: Seattle - Coeur D'Alene. 320 miles
What a day this has been, what a rare mood I'm in ...
Thanks to the Usual Suspects (Scottish Cowgirl, Cookie Monster, My Fellow Canadian and The Renaissance Man), I made it out of town in record time and with an extraordinarily clean apartment. Can't say enough how Fabulous the Friends are, and have been, since news of my departure hit the broadsheets.
There was snow in The Pass, but the Fabulous Father was more than up for it, and we sailed into the Heart of Idaho in time for oysters and beer for dinner - yes, oysters - and for the conclusion of a seasonal parade that drew the entire population of northern WA, ID and MT, based on the traffic jams. Post-party shennanigans included arriving at the local hotspot in strapless, shiny tops, and downing two rounds of Jagermeister shots in RedBull (a boilermaker for the oughts?), before diving into Huckleberry Margaritas.
You heard me.
More snow predicted btw where we are and Bozeman, but we'll make an early start and hope for the best. See you at 5,000 feet!

Happy trails! I've done parts of this drive in winter, so, um, have fun with that.

Thanks - it will almost definitely be snowing all day today as we cross Montana, but the truck is warm and we'll be fine.

Wait wait wait. Were both you and your dad wearing strapless tops? Were you drinking all of those drinks?
I too am in a very weird place. Last night Nate and I were serenaded by a bluegrass band (they were supposed to be playing to the whole restaurant, but we were the only customers) and then we went to a super-packed casino.
I am so glad to hear that the drive is going well so far! Hopefully the no-snow gods are still smiling on you.

Huckleberry margaritas! That sounds intriguing! And tasty...
Glad to hear the first leg of the journey went well!

The strapless tops, jager shots and margaritas belonged to three local ladies in their early twenties, who'd been at the parade and came into the restaurant looking for a good time. Dad and I had Mac & Jack's and were dressed ... appropriately.
Although I can totally see why you thought we were the drunk young hotties. Ha!
